On Saturday, October 5, North Brunswick Township held its 42nd annual Heritage Day Festival in Community Park at 3 pm. The event is held each year to celebrate the diverse cultures in the North Brunswick Community. This is done through live music, performances, food, games, and overall entertainment to make this a day for the whole family to enjoy!
The Heritage Day Festival is a yearly occurrence, providing families with great
opportunities to learn about what's going on in North Brunswick Township, and many ways for their children to have fun and get involved. Businesses/organizations are able to rent a vendor table which can be a great way to inform North Brunswick residents about what they do. There are many types of vendors with a variety of offerings. Businesses such as Nothing Bundt Cakes, T-Mobile, Octopus Music School, and The Learning Experience had tables selling products and informing everyone of their company's offerings.
There were also booths from various small businesses selling and advertising their goods or services. Finally, there were many tables advertising local programs in or around the North Brunswick area. Places like the North Brunswick Police Department, Rutgers Gardens, North Brunswick Humane Association, and the North Brunswick Department of Public Works, all held booths informing residents about what they do and encouraging everyone to get involved in the community.
Upon entering the park grounds, people could find many different forms of entertainment available. There were multiple blow-up attractions that all the
children greatly enjoyed, as well as a big rock wall that was a huge hit. But entertainment wasn't just for kids.
Heritage Day offered a short ride in a horse-pulled carriage which seemed to be very popular amongst everyone. In the center of the lawn were lots of picnic tables to allow guests to rest and enjoy food from the many food trucks. Just in front of the tables stood the stage, which held performances by many. There was live music from a local band, and a few performances were held by students at a local karate school and students who attend the Octopus Music School.
When asked about why they attended Heritage Day, North Brunswick Township residents had lots to say. SophieLyn Brown, a student here at NBTHS, stated, "I went to Heritage Day because my family, my best friend, and I go every year. I love all the food, music, and entertainment provided at this event. I look forward to it every year!"
Royce Stozki, a North Brunswick Resident, said she comes to Heritage Day every year because, "I like to come out, support the community, and see the vendors and their booths. This year is actually extra special for me because my daughter is going to be doing karate on the stage in a little while with her karate team."
Overall, the Heritage Day Festival continues to be an excellent opportunity for families to come and enjoy a day filled with lots of fun, music, food, and chances to learn more about the town and all it offers.
