Ms. Kaushik grew up always being interested in Science. She explained how it’s always been the subject that has challenged her the most, but in the best way. Science classes challenged her to think critically and explore the world around her through a whole new lens. She wanted to see the world from a deeper, different point of view, and to do so, she needed to learn about life, but as a scientist.

The curiosity she had for science drove her to want to know everything about it. She earned a science degree from the University of Rajasthan in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, before pursuing a career in education. In just a short time as a member of the Science Department, Ms. Kaushik has become a beloved teacher at NBTHS.

“Ms. Kaushik is super helpful as well as a great teacher,” said Enny Lopez, one of Ms. Kaushik’s junior-year biology students. “She patiently takes the time to help me truly understand the material in her class…She knows how to be there for her students.”

Ms. Kaushik has always known that teaching would be the career path for her.

“I’ve wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. Even during my own school years, I found myself drawn to helping others learn, and over time, that passion developed into a clear career goal,” Ms. Kaushik stated.

Ms. Kaushik talks about how even if she hadn’t become a teacher, she could see herself working in a healthcare or research field, where she could still apply her love for science and help people in a meaningful way.

Luckily, Ms. Kaushik, she was able to accomplish her dream of teaching, and though this is her first year at NBTHS, she has been an educator for the past 14 years, working in the North Plainfield District.

“I really enjoy working at NBTHS. The community has been very welcoming, and I feel fortunate to be here. I believe I bring energy, dedication, and a supportive learning environment for my students. I also aim to bring fresh ideas from my prior teaching experience to help students grow both academically and personally.” Ms. Kaushik expressed.

Though teaching is Ms. Kaushik's passion, she still has many other interests outside of her school life. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and loves to travel.

“I also have a passion for singing and dancing, and I regularly participate in cultural events within our community. These activities bring me joy, help me stay connected, and allow me to maintain a healthy balance in my life,” Ms. Kaushik said.
