Giants Hit Reset for a New Era in NY

SAANVI LAMBA, Editor-in-Chief

On Monday, November 10, 2025, the New York Giants made a move that left fans like me in shambles: they fired head coach Brian Daboll. Daboll, who first took charge in 2022, gave the team hope almost immediately, bringing the Giants back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2016 season. That 2022 season, the Giants finished 9‑7‑1 and even pulled off a playoff win- something Giants fans had been dreaming of since the days of Eli Manning playing quarterback. However, the excitement didn’t last. After struggling seasons, including this year’s 2‑8 start, the organization decided it was time for a change. For fans, this news was not easy to accept- Daboll had his bright moments, but the results just weren’t consistent enough.

So now the big question is: who’s going to step in and take on the big role? The Giants announced offensive coordinator Mike Kafka as interim head coach, but the real coaching search is sparking conversation in New York sports. Potential candidates include NFL legends like Bill Belichick, defensive coaches like Mike Elko, and college coaches like Lane Kiffin, who actually coached our new rookie quarterback- Jaxson Dart, at Ole Miss. Dart is young, talented, and has lots of potential, the right coach could turn him into the future face of the franchise. Fans like myself are hoping that whoever lands the job will not only help Dart develop, but also bring the Giants back to yearly playoff runs.

As a die-hard Giants fan, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions. On one hand, it’s sad to say goodbye to Daboll- he gave us that magical 2022 playoff run and showed us what this team is capable of. On the other hand, change might be what the Giants need. The question of how to move forward is critical. Will the next coach utilize Dart’s talent and build a team that can finally compete at a high level year after year? Or are we in for another season of disappointment? One thing is certain- Giants fans will be watching every game, every play, and every decision with hope, frustration, and the constant hope that only a true fan can feel. The future is unpredictable, but for now, it’s time to get ready- New York football is about to get ten times more interesting.
