Disconnected: the Battle for WiFi

Updated: Nov 20

Has your WiFi from the school been troubling? Have you been trying to find the answer and wondering why you keep encountering issues? Maybe even blame the school for being unable to do your work because of the horrible WiFi.

Well, you are not the only one. Many staff, students, and teachers constantly wonder why the WiFi keeps going down. The WiFi is always down, but it isn't the school's fault, it is the slow networks that make it happen. Usually, hundreds and thousands of students use the WiFi daily so it is not a surprise that it keeps going down. Since many students used the school's WiFi to go on their phones, WiFi became harder to access.

Sometimes administration uses the WiFi to block certain websites that students may be using in classes so that they aren't "distracted." Students are very upset with this, stating, "It's unfair because at first, it was the restrictions and now it's the strict phone policies." Other students also suggest that "We should be able to use WiFi in classes when we don't have any work."

In my opinion, there is never perfect WiFi here at NBTHS without it pausing, slowing, or shutting off altogether, so it shouldn't be something to argue about. However, I do think that it is nice to observe the struggle and talk about this with other students.
