The winning photos for The Banner Photography Contest are here! The theme was winter, and it was amazing to see how beautiful the season was through your entries. The winners were decided based on staff voting. Congratulations to…

First Place: “Snowdrift” by Kyle Handojo (senior)

Kyle described this shot as “the trails of passing traffic, imprinted in the snow, as a brewing snowstorm begins to cover the street.” We loved the crisp lines that conveyed the fresh, chilly aura of winter, as well as the cool color palette, which was both simple and elegant, just like a light snowfall. In addition, the contrast between the trails in the street from cars that came before and the emptiness now felt very serene.

Runner Up: “That Christmas Feeling…” by Andre Pearson (sophomore)

Andre says that when taking his photo, he “really wanted to capture that subtle warmth” of Christmas, and we think he was successful! The warm lighting from the lantern and string lights provided a soft, welcoming glow, and the fluffy fake snow with the round shapes made it feel even more comfortable and cozy.

Thank you to everyone who entered, and congratulations to Andre and Kyle!
