Seal of Biliteracy

The Seal of Biliteracy is a stamp on a high school diploma, and a notation on a student’s transcript; it certifies that a student is bilingual or fluent in a language other than English. The qualifying test for the Seal of Biliteracy is a challenging one that requires equal proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing of a second language other than English. A score of 4 or 5 on the Advanced Placement Language and Culture exam may also earn students this same recognition.
