ANNE CHEDID, Class of 2024 President
Good morning to Superintendent Ciarocca, North Brunswick Board of Education members, Mr. Kneller, Mr. Speller, Mrs. Bloemer, NBTHS administration and staff, family, friends, and the Class of 2024. My name is Anne Chedid, and I had the honor of serving as the Class President for the Class of 2024. Before I begin, I would like to ask you to look at the chair located in the student seating area on the floor to my left. That chair has a single rose on it, representative of anyone who could not be with us today. I would like to specifically pay tribute to Hakim Davis, a beloved member of the Class of 2024. Hakim was a member of the NBTHS Boys’ Lacrosse Team, and was known to be an amazing defender. His teammates could always rely on him, and he was a friend to so many graduates here today. I ask that you take a brief moment of silence to reflect and pay tribute to any friend, family member, or loved one who has helped you reach this moment and who could not be with us today, especially Hakim… thank you.
I’d like you to take a look at the floor where each of the graduates is seated. Every graduate dons different colored cords representing all the organizations they were a part of at NBTHS. We had the opportunity to join cultural organizations, like BCA with their brown cord or SACA with their green cord. Honor societies like Hispanic Honors Society with red and yellow cords and French Honors Society with red, white and blue cords. Academies like Business Academy with their green and gold cord, Humanities Academy with their purple and gold cord, and STEM Academy with their blue and black cord. Not to mention all the clubs and organizations we have, like Model UN and DECA with their blue and white cords, SGO with their red and blue cords, and Tri-M with their pink cords. These cords represent all the hard work and dedication that the Class of 2024 put into making NBTHS a better place, but they also represent all the memories that we have collected in our past four years at NBTHS. Today, we can clearly see the colorful mosaic we create, highlighting not only our commitment to our community, but also the beauty that forms when we come together as one.
Every graduate has brought something unique to the Class of 2024, but we have one uniting factor: the golden stole that we are all wearing today. While graduating classes before us have also sported this stole, the golden color takes on a double meaning for the graduating class of 2024. While it unites us with the alumni who came before us, it also sets us apart as we celebrate the golden anniversary of NBTHS. Our class represents half a century of innovation, and in the mosaic of NBTHS history, our unique personalities shine a bright, golden light on all the changes that have been made in the past, and all the amazing things to come. Graduates, when you look down at your golden stole, and when you think of the endless possibilities that await, remember that you will always have a home and a family at North Brunswick.
With that, I would like to say congratulations to the Class of 2024, and welcome to graduation.
