From February 28 - March 1, NBTHS held its 40th annual Rock-A-Thon, a 24-hour school charity event open to all high schoolers. With over 70 participants from varying grades, it was truly a night to remember!
The Rock-A-Thon is an event held each year to raise money for charity. This year all the proceeds went towards the North Brunswick Food Bank, Hugs for Brady, and Raiders Homeplate. All participants must raise at least $85 dollars in order to participate but are encouraged to raise as much as possible. This year, the event raised over $10,000, surpassing the yearly goal!

As a participant in the event myself, I can say it was an extremely fun experience filled with lasting memories. Students had to arrive no later than 4:30 PM in order to check in and set up their rocking chairs. Along with rocking chairs, students brought many different things to provide entertainment, such as TVs, video game systems, and even computer set-ups.
Students were able to do whatever they pleased- as long as they followed the two rules: Don't get out of your rocking chair, and don't fall asleep! There were exceptions made to these rules, however, for each hour students were able to get up, walk around, use the restroom, etc. Along with this, from 3 am to 6 am students were given a quiet time where they were allowed to sleep if they chose to do so.
Overall, the event was a time of amazing fun for a great cause. Junior Annie Yin says her favorite part was "Running laps around the commons during break times, the serenity of walking around in the dark, and overall being with my friends." Senior Kylie Mikita says "My favorite part of Rock-a-Thon was that I got to have fun and hang out with my friends all while doing something that helped others."
